2024 Fall Bouldering Intensives

Ages 13-17 | Co-ed | Max 10 participants | Coopers Rock, WV
Friday afternoon - Sunday evening; all transportation, meals, and accommodation included
You’ve been asking for it! Our bouldering intensive is new in 2024 and features a unique opportunity to climb with and be coached by prolific route developer, v10+ first ascensionist, guidebook author, and youth coach Andrew Leich at his home crag of Coopers Rock, WV - which just happens to be one of the East Coast’s best bouldering areas, with thousands of documented problems ranging from V-fun to V-hard on wildly featured sandstone.
The weekend begins on Friday afternoon with van pickup in the DC area. We’ll head straight to Morgantown, WV and the overhanging rock mazes and caverns of Coopers Rock and set up camp in the boulder forest. After dinner, we’ll get oriented and warm up with some fun night bouldering.
We’ll spend Saturday learning outdoor-specific footwork, movement, and top-out techniques; safer falling and spotting, as well as risk assessment and management, strategy, and tactics for working projects as well as circuits. We’ll continue to try hard on Sunday to send projects and reach high points, get inspired by our peers, and keep the stoke high! We’ll be back by late Sunday evening.
All ability levels are welcome at this camp, but it’s an intensive experience for motivated climbers ready to be immersed in climbing and camping for a weekend.
All youth trips are staffed with AMGA-certified and first-aid trained instructor and coaches.
Accommodations are in shared 4-person mountaineering tents separated by age and gender.
